home | why a professional pet sitter? | rates and services

As you can see, I have always been a cat person. Growing up, we had two cats, who were an integral part of our family.

I have been a professional pet sitter since 2000, as owner and operator of West Hills Cat Sitting in Portland, Oregon. Last summer, I moved to Raleigh and launched my new business, Carolina Cat Sitting.

Sometimes, I feel like I have the perfect job. I get to drive around visiting kitties! While it is a lot of fun, I take my responsibilities seriously. It means a lot to me that people are willing to trust me to care for their homes and beloved pets. I try to create a bond with each cat, and I certainly appreciate all their varied personalities.

Throughout the 1990s, I worked as a Psychiatric Research Associate at Oregon Health and Science University, where I worked on various studies related to teenage depression. After a rewarding but red-tape laden decade, I decided to try something completely different -- pet sitting. I love being self-employed and spending every day with cats. Born and raised in Los Angeles, I headed north for college, where I earned a bachelor's degree from University of Oregon and a master's degree from Lewis and Clark College.

I am proudly owned by a sweet kitty I met while volunteering in Tylertown, MS, after Hurricane Katrina. She was rescued as a tiny kitten in New Orleans, in November 2005. I took care of her in the "Kitty City" section of the shelter, and she stole my heart. Her name is Katrina, and she's now almost four years old.
